A Sad, but Wonderful Time on Fathers Day

This Weekend, Temple and I spent time with our fathers in Greenwood.  We had a great time Saturday with my Step-Dad, and today was devoted to T's Dad.  We had a great time.

The sad but wonderful time was at our church in Charleston.  Our Minister of Music is leaving the church and pursuing his ministry at another church in SC.  It is a sad time for us.  He and his family have been a great friend to Temple and I, and it will be sad not to be able to at least see him every week.  The church is also loosing a valuable asset and I don't think they realize it.

This is absolutely the most happy I have been for a friend to be moving away.  His new church looks to be absolutely wonderful for him and his ministry.  It is a wonderful situation for him to be in.  I am so happy for him and his family.

Did I mention that his new church is only 30 miles from my in-laws house?  I know where we will be going when ever we visit.  They have an extra bedroom if anyone wants to go up with us sometime.

Sometime People Just Amaze You

A buddy of mine is going to a very difficult time. As of two weeks a go, he was losing his job and would basically be unemployable for six months, his marriage was all but over, and he was having to sell the house he built himself just a year ago. This guy had all the reasons to be angry and negative towards everything and no one would have blamed him. Then came the one person that could change all that. GOD

He (my bud) amazes me. He has made mistakes in his past and knows that he has to live with those mistakes. He has rekindled his relationship with God and has turned it over to him. Not only does his words say this, but his actions scream this. And what good does turning it over to God do? Well...

His house is being sold to someone that appreciates the hard work that he put into it (Temple and I are buying it) and he is picking up side construction jobs to make ends meet. He is financially strapped, but not going hungry. These are all great, but what about his marriage? This is the part that just overwhelms me.

This latest series of events have broken both of them. They have moved back in together and are actually requesting to spend time with each other. They are reading Gods word together and praying together. They are crying through this time together and holding each other. This is just overwhelming to me. He fought to keep their marriage together and failed, but as soon as he let God into the situation everything changed. I see a future in their marriage now that was not there a week ago.

Will they stay together? All I can say is that there is a since of love in the relationship that I didn't see in the past.

Through all of this I can say that God has used him to inspire me. I have everything I could want. I have a beautiful wife and wonderful marriage, a job that I love that is very stable, and not a worry about losing my house. Last week, all this went away from him and he turned to God. What do I do? I have allowed my church situation and my own insecurities to put me in to a spiritual lull. Are these the words that a Deacon of a church should admit to. The answer is YES, if it is true. This guy looks to me as a spiritual rock, but I am pluff mud compared to him. I am one of those people who truly do the right thing most of the time. I never come close to making this mistakes that he does, but I would trade that for the brokenness, humility, and 100 % dependance on God that he has shown over the last couple of days.

I am amazed, humbled, and in awe.

Please pray that thieir Marrage will continue to get better and this situation will be worked out. Also, pray for me as I struggle with my spiritual lull.

The Housing Process Part 2

Contract is signed.  Closing date will be no later than June 27.  We have to get the loan finalized, get it appraised, and get it inspected.  Oh crap...That is the same weekend as our High School Reunion along with some other important happenings.  Going to be a very busy month of June.

This time last week we were planting the garden at our current house and discussion what we wanted to plant next.  Now we have to look at what repairs we need to make before we list the house.  Once again, does anyone want to buy a townhouse?

The Housing Process Part 1

Went to go see the house today.  We helped build it a little bit, but did not ever see it finished.  We do indeed love it.  We meet tomorrow to sign a contract on the house.  It is getting exciting for us...

Temple loves the yard.  It will be nice to go from 0.000000000001 acre to .5 acre.

God, Please close this door hard if it is not your will...

The Start of the Housing Process

Temple and I were thinking about buying a house.  We got the house Bug bad, but came to the realization that we need to hold off and get some more school loans paid off.  That was about three weeks ago.  Well... We had a house kind of fall into our lap this week.  A house we absolutely love.  Met with our mortgage bud this afternoon and are going to buy it.  Our prayer is that if we are not to buy this house, God will slam the door.  We may even close in 2-3 weeks.  Then we will have to sell our existing house.  Anyone want to buy a townhouse?
